About AWS Certification Exams

AWS (Amazon Web Services) certifications are an official credentialing program that validates your knowledge and hands-on skills with AWS cloud services. They range from the entry-level Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02), through the design-focused Solutions Architect Associate (SAA-C03), to the advanced Solutions Architect Professional (SAP-C02) and domain-specific Specialty exams (Security, Advanced Networking, Machine Learning, and more), organized by level and job role.

Newer exams have also emerged in AI/ML, such as AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) and Machine Learning Engineer Associate (MLA-C01), along with the data-focused Data Engineer Associate (DEA-C01) — giving cloud engineers, data engineers, and ML engineers exam paths tailored to their careers. This site covers all major current exams, offering exam-trend guide articles and practice questions created and verified from AWS official documentation.

How to Study by Certification Level

Foundational (CLF, AIF)

An entry level covering AWS basics, core service positioning, and pricing models at a broad, introductory depth. Even without hands-on experience, reviewing the glossary and official whitepapers (such as the Well-Architected Framework Overview) and working through this site's CLF-C02 practice questions two or three times can bring you to a passing level. AIF-C01 is a newer entry point for AI topics.

Associate (SAA, SOA, DVA, DEA, MLA)

This level tests your ability to combine services and choose the best solution. SAA focuses on design, SOA on operations, DVA on development, DEA on data pipelines, and MLA on machine learning workloads. We recommend building your own comparison tables (e.g., "ALB vs. NLB," "RDS vs. Aurora vs. DynamoDB") and studying them alongside this site's guide articles.

Professional (SAP, DOP)

Tests architect/DevOps-level practical skills: large-scale multi-account design, multi-region DR, and CI/CD pipeline automation. Questions and answer choices are long, and reading comprehension grounded in the six pillars of the Well-Architected Framework is what separates pass from fail. It's common to attempt these 6–12 months after earning the corresponding Associate certification.

Specialty (ANS, SCS, AIP)

Deep-dive exams in networking, security, and AI/ML. Hands-on experience is generally assumed, and it's important to build understanding through official documentation, deep-dive technical sessions, and hands-on practice with the relevant services.

How to Use This Site

  1. Choose an exam — Select the exam you want to study from the list above.
  2. Get the big picture from a guide article — Check exam trends, domain structure, and study tips for each exam in the Exam Guide.
  3. Test your knowledge with practice questions — Answer questions based on AWS official documentation and deepen your understanding with the explanations.
  4. Visualize your weak spots with history — After creating an account, your accuracy by domain is recorded, and Smart Mode automatically focuses on your weak areas.
